What is chordee?
Chordee is the downward bending of the penis during erection. Turkish sources call it penile curvature, and in everyday language it's sometimes called a "crooked penis" — all describe the same finding.

- Chordee is common in hypospadias but not present in every case. In some children whose opening is close to the tip there is no curvature at all; the further back the opening sits, the more likely curvature becomes.
- The term penile chordee is used to specify that the curvature is in the shaft of the penis. Curvature can also occur on its own, without hypospadias — in that case the evaluation follows the same steps.
